IFDHAL KASIM

About

Ifdhal Kasim is a former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission of Indonesia (Komnas HAM). His job as the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission ended in November 2012, after five years (2007-2012). Now the man who was born in Tapaktuan, South Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam in 1963, returned to the world of law. An activity that he did after he graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia, 1991 was to establishing a law office in Solo with M. Sholeh Amin and Mohammad Yamin.

In the course of his career as a lawyer he had been Director of the Institute for Policy Research and Advocacy (1998-2005), Director of Programs and Legislation Reform Law Institute (2005-2007), and got involved in a variety of drafting legislation after the reform, as a member of Team Designer Bill Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Combating Criminal Acts of Terrorism Bill, Bill Society, and some of the bill for the ratification of international conventions of human rights.

Its main expertise is in International Human Rights Law, Natural Resources Law, Environmental Protection Law, Intellectual Property Rights and Investment Law.

EDUCATION

Ifdhal obtained her law degree from the Faculty of Law, University Islamic of Indonesia, 1991
