About
Johny was a member of the Indonesian Foundation for Legal Devotion in 1992, where He fought for the rights of victim of the 1965 coup blamed on the now defuct Indonesian Communist Party. Johny was bestowed a Yap Thiam Hien Award in 1992. He was elected commisioner of the National Human Rights Commission of Indonesia in 2007-2012.
EDUCATION
Johny Nelson Simanjuntak completed his Bachelor of law degree (S.H.) at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta in 1982 and earned a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta in 2014.
